Exhibition Tour & Performance
Sat, September 13, 2025, 6 – 10 PM // Performance, 7 PM
6 – 10 PM:
fjk3 – Space for Contemporary Art invites you to a tour of Orchestrion as part of vienna contemporary 2025 – the first institutional solo exhibition by Scottish artist Lucy McKenzie in Austria. McKenzie is known for her contemporary trompe-l’œil painting and her engagement with political narratives in spatial contexts.
7 PM:
Bust Talk with artist Thomas Geiger (German).
In his ongoing performance series Bust Talks, which began in 2018, Geiger sees more than just cold, soulless objects in busts and statues – he approaches them as conversation partners. Their presence, and the stories they embody, continue to resonate today.
At fjk3, Thomas Geiger encounters two particularly special interlocutors: Zoya I & II – Lucy McKenzie's “Faux Verdigris” statues, transformed mannequins that serve as a monument to Soviet resistance fighter Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya.
Thomas Geiger (b. 1983, based in Vienna) develops performative situations in his artistic practice that connect time, place, and subject—often operating at the intersection of institutional and public space. His work produces surprising and tension-filled encounters: he speaks with statues (Bust Talks, ongoing since 2018), guides audiences through the subconscious of institutions (Being Kunsthalle Wien, 2023), or travels into the future of the past (25 Years Too Late, 2025).
In recent years, Geiger has realized projects with institutions including Kunstverein Hannover, CAPC Bordeaux, Belvedere Vienna, Kunsthalle Wien, Kunstverein Siegen, CAC Brétigny, Wiener Festwochen, and steirischer herbst.
In addition to his artistic practice, he is co-founder of the publishing house Mark Pezinger Books, which he has run since 2010 together with designer Astrid Seme.
