Sun, 4/6/2023, 8:00 PM

Bar: 6 pm – 10 pm
Performance: 8 pm

Krõõt Juurak
has taken workplace conflicts and put them on the stage, performed for pets, and even assigned the role of director to their one-year-old son. As a choreographer and performance artist, Krõõt Juurak has a penchant for self-sabotage, for getting caught up in the awkwardness of the moment, trusting far more to the dramaturgy of the endeavour than to its actual success. Juurak discovered the genre of stand-up comedy for themself some time ago, but with Juurak, the audience occasionally has to wait a little longer for the punchlines. But what if the performance, and its wit, still work even when they are not meant to be funny at all? Indeed, Krõõt excels at the great art of comic unease.

Krõõt Juurak, born 1981 in Tallinn, is an artist, performer, stand-up comedian and dancer. They studied choreography at ArtEZ and Fine Arts at the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam. Recent exhibitions and performances include the Baltic Triennial 14, Vilnius (2021); You’re So Busy at Shedhalle, Zürich (2021, 2022); Thinking Like an Octopus at Wilhelm-Hack-Museum, Ludwigshafen, (2021); Art for Animals: A Perspective Change at Opelvillen Stiftung, Rüsselsheim (2020, 2021); Cohabitation Silent Green, Berlin (2021), among others. Juurak lives and works in Vienna.
A joint project with the Wiener Festwochen as part of the exhibition "Liesl Raff – Liaison".
