Passants parmi les pierres
curated by Thomas Demand

Accompanying the exhibition Passants parmi les pierres, curated by Thomas Demand, fjk3—Contemporary Art Space invites visitors to a series of expert talks. Taking selected works from the exhibition and the image captions written by Clemens J. Setz as a point of departure, guests from photography, image theory, and art history will discuss perception, memory, and the question of how images do not merely depict reality, but actively produce it. The talks open up perspectives on the relationships between image, space, history, and viewer.

The series opens with a conversation between the scholar for visual studies, photography and film historian Roland Fischer-Briand and the artistic director of fjk3 Fiona Liewehr. They will discuss the photographic trace, questions of truth and fiction in the image, and the relationship between documentation, staging, and memory.

He currently heads the photography collection at the Theatermuseum in Vienna (KHM-Verband).
